A hotel in the historic center of Strasbourg

The project is located in the historic center of Strasbourg, specifically in the district of La Petite France. It is located near the train station, the Grand Rue and the Museum of Modern Art.

It has the distinction of being in the Safeguard Plan and the Development of Saved Sector of Strasbourg. Therefore it has certain restrictions and obligations which will be crucial in the project. We retain special saddleback roofs obligation, approaching traditional slopes. Moreover "All contemporary architectural style is permitted provided that the building fits harmoniously into the surrounding urban and architectural context." This site is a floor area of 1500 m². In the West there is a typology of buildings rather messy and tall (> 25m) and in the East buildings are lower (> 12m) and more orderly. At the front, in the South, there is a small place due to shrinkage alignment of buildings. The idea was to integrate surroundings by pitched roofs but also by cutting plots resulting offsets. This is a game winning volumes and changes in materials that the project began to take shape. In addition it was necessary to report changes in each side of the site: on one side the tall buildings and heterogeneous and on the other side the formal and low buildings. The West Wing and the East Wing interact with buildings facing them. The withdrawal of Western alignment can also take a step back to see the best games lag. The large volume is released in the south by the small square in front and marks the entrance to the building.
 

In the South, the big façade overlooking the square greets the visitor at this hotel which is part of the surrounding environment by its shape and sloping roofs traditional. This large volume houses the common areas, recreational areas. The West Wing, with its particular forms welcomes rooms. The east wing, more formally welcomes workspaces. In the main building the further north we find the apartments. Subsequently, the visitor discovers a courtyard with a special atmosphere with a dynamic facade gives the impression of motion. In fact, the games shift that was found outside in the courtyard continues, such bands that have been folded..
